Dinner & a Movie
All rising 9th graders and older youth are invited to join us this Monday, August 23, at 6:30 PM to watch and discuss “Trailerpark.” This is the full-length feature film made by former Glen Mar youth Pat Muhlberger. We will meet at the home of Alex Thomas at 12012 Yellow Bell Ln., Columbia, 21044. Call them at 410-740-8968 for directions. Youth must have a permission slip signed by a parent. Pick one up outside the youth ministry office. Youth are asked to bring $5 each for dinner.
Triple B-Day
All rising 6th grade youth and older are invited to join us this Wednesday, August 25. We will meet at 10:30 AM in Youth Lounge for a short Bible study, and then we’ll go to the mall for a time of Buying and Box office (movies). We’ll return to Glen Mar about 3:00 PM.
Lunch with the Old Man
D.C. would love to have one final time to catch up with our youth before they head off to college for the first time. He will pay for your lunch if you will call him and arrange for a day to meet for a meal before you leave town for school. Set a date now before you head out.
2010 Confirmation Class
Attention all 8th graders and older youth (and their parents): There will be an orientation meeting for all youth and parents of youth in the 8th grade or older who have not yet been confirmed. This meeting will take place next Sunday, August 29, at 11:00 AM in the Youth Lounge. We will discuss all of our plans for the 2010-11 confirmation class. This will be a great time to have all of your questions answered about the confirmation process. This meeting is mandatory for any youth thinking about being confirmed in 2011. Please talk to D.C. if you have any questions.
Senior High Fall Kickoff & Parents’ Meeeting
WHO: All families of youth going into 9th-12th grades
WHAT: Our annual Fall Kickoff for Glen Mar senior high youth ministries.
WHERE: Spirit Center
WHEN: Sunday, August 29, 5:00-7:30 PM.
WHY: To learn of the various youth ministry opportunities at Glen Mar; to get a fall calendar of activities; to sign up for dinners; to sign permission slips; to meet the adult volunteers. And... to HAVE FUN!!!
Each family should bring a side dish or dessert to share. Glen Mar will provide the burgers and drinks.
Friend-in-Faith
We are looking for adults willing to serve as a “Friend-in-Faith” for members of this year’s confirmation class. A Friend-in-Faith is a mentor, someone willing to come alongside a young person and share the journey together. You don’t need to know everything, just that you’re willing to join in the search for answers. Friends-in-Faith will meet regularly with their confirmand in a one-on-one relationship. If you are willing to serve in this valuable role, or if you have questions, please talk to D.C. to receive a written job description.
