2012 CONFIRMATION CLASS: Class this Sunday, Jan. 22, in room 123 - Part 1 of Worship. Memory Treasure #7, the Golden Rule, is due today. Homework is journal reading, mentor-youth Talkpoint #5, and parent-youth Talkpoint #4. Winter Retreat on Saturday, Jan. 28.
CALLING ALL ARTISTS: This Sunday morning, January 22, the 6th and 7th grade Sunday school classes will be illustrating a book written by one of our church members.
SENIOR HIGH YOUTH GROUP – All 9th-12th grade youth are invited to join us this Sunday evening from 5-7pm in the Spirit Center for recreation, dinner and a time to help prepare the church for the Cold Weather Shelter. Youth are asked to bring $2 each for dinner. This is an important activity, so even if you don’t come until after the Ravens game ends please still show up to help.
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP: Friday, Jan. 20, 7 – 9 PM – “Dodgeball”
YOUTH MISSION TRIPS – Youth currently in the 8 th grade and older are eligible to go on one of our senior high mission trips this summer. Hurley #1 is for current 8 th grade and older the week of June 24-30, $350/person. Hurley #2 is for 8 th grade and older the week of July 1-7, $350/person. Jacksonville is for 9 th grade and older the week of July 22-28, $290/person. Costs include all housing, meals, materials and a T-shirt. Reserve your spot by getting a deposit of $50 payable to Glen Mar to D.C.. There will also be a Tuscaloosa Select for high school seniors and collegians in early June, details coming soon. We are looking for adults interested in participating in all of these trips as well. Please see D.C. for more information.
SENIOR HIGH IMPACT RETREAT – All 9 th – 12 th grade youth are encouraged to join us for the 2012 Impact Retreat in Ocean City, March 23-25. We will be exploring the theme “Connect.” There will be great speakers and awesome music by Disciple, KJ-52, and Tenth Avenue North. See D.C. to get the registration brochure. The cost is $125/person if you register with D.C. by Jan. 22. You can reserve your spot by paying a deposit of $50.
YOUTH GROUP SUB SALE - Members of the Glen Mar youth ministry are once again taking orders for delicious sub sandwiches that will be prepared and sold on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5. Subs are 8” and contain ham, salami, cheese and lettuce, with an option for onions. Subs cost $5 each. Youth can use the profits from the subs they sell for future youth events like mission trips and retreats. See Jen Rowell or D.C. Veale to get an order form. Order forms are due Jan. 29.
YOUTH WORSHIP TEAM: Youth and adults interested in helping to plan and/or lead youth worship should contact Jen Rowell at jen.rowell@glenmarumc.org – looking for music, drama, and cool ideas for worship that is meaningful for youth.
NEW GIRLS GROUP FORMING: For 6th & 7th grade girls. Assistant leader needed. Interested girls and adults should contact Jen Rowell at jen.rowell@glenmarumc.org
PUPPET MINISTRY: For 7th graders - Glen Mar is starting up a puppet ministry under the direction of Nicole Meek and her 7th grade son Devin. They are inviting other 7th graders to be part of this new ministry. Be part of this team and help make the puppets come alive. If you are interested in being part of this great story-telling method contact Nicole or Devin Meek at: bnmeek@meekconsulting.com Practice this Sunday, Jan 22, 10:30-11:00 in room 150.
NEXT WEEK: Middle School youth group - Friday, Jan. 27 - Ice Skating at Columbia Ice Rink, 7:45 - 10 PM. Bring $11 plus snack money, drop-off and pick-up at the Columbia Ice Rink, Oakland Mills Village Center.
